Chandrapur-Sariya-Kanchanpur Road : Ignoring water sprinkling on the road under construction, pedestrians are facing a lot of trouble

Saalheona : Chhattisgarh’s Chandrapur – Sariya – Kanchanpur road (Chandrapur-Sariya-Kanchanpur Road) widening project is facing a significant issue with dust pollution. As the construction of the road progresses, there is a severe lack of water sprinkling on the construction site, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and two-wheeler riders. This issue has been ongoing for months, and local commuters are facing the brunt of it.

Locals have reported that the road construction began six months ago after a formal Bhoomi Pujan by local legislators. However, the project is moving in segments, with only a portion of the CC Road completed and another segment left dug up. The dust generated due to this incomplete work is now causing health problems, including eye irritation and respiratory issues. Despite repeated requests for water sprinkling on the road, the authorities have failed to address the issue.

“Drainage Issue: Lack of Proper Drainage System”

The construction of the drainage system, which was supposed to be part of the roadwork, is also facing delays. A proper drainage system is essential for managing rainwater runoff, especially during the monsoon. Without it, areas like Datal Mirri and nearby streets will face waterlogging issues, disrupting daily life.

“Silence of Public Representatives and Quality Concerns”

While the road was inaugurated with much fanfare by local politicians, the quality of work seems to be compromised. Once the groundbreaking ceremony ended, there has been no follow-up, and many representatives have stayed silent about the problems in the crusher area construction. The local population suspects that the authorities have turned a blind eye to the irregularities in the project.

Local Citizens’ Views (Chandrapur-Sariya-Kanchanpur Road)

“One side of the CC Road is almost complete, but the other side has been left dug up. There is no water sprinkling, making travel even more difficult. As the day ends, the entire area is filled with dust clouds,” said Banwari Samle, a local resident of Saalheona.

“After waiting for years, the road is finally being built, but the quality of work is questionable. The absence of authorities is allowing the contractors to cut corners and rush the construction,” said Ranjeet Mirri, a local resident of Katangpali.
